How to Showcase Your Consecutive Positions LinkedIn used to require separate entries for each of your positions at the same company. This created problems because on first glance, it might look like you were at the company for a short time, whereas you were actually there for many years in consecutive positions. We used to handle this issue by creating one entry for the full span of years, followed by separate entries for each position. This workaround is no longer needed! Now, when you add consecutive positions at the same company, LinkedIn groups them into a single section to show your progression. So instead of showing as several different entries for the same company, the company will only be listed once, and your subsequent positions will appear in that section. Hereâs an example: This is one change that I view as a vast improvement over the old system. Iâm celebrating! How to Use LinkedInâs New Jobs Tools: How You Match, Easy Apply, Job Title Highlights, and Salary Insights How You Match LinkedIn will tell you what skills you have that match the ones sought for the position. To the right of the job, look for the âHow you matchâ section: This section pulls the skills indicated as required by the job poster and matches them with the skills listed in your profile. If you match 80% of the skills, youâre probably a good candidate for the position â" you are qualified and also have some room to grow. Easy Apply If you are serious about applying to a particular job, use the âApply/Easy Applyâ or âSaveâ feature: Once you save a job, you can find it from your jobs page: âEasy Applyâ is offered by businesses that use an applicant tracking system (ATS) to filter applications. LinkedIn hosts the application, âenabling you to pre-fill information from your profile to make it easier and faster to apply.â Hereâs what the application looks like: Want to know the history of all the jobs youâve applied for? What is Ultrasound? Ultrasound or ultrasonography is a medical imaging technique that uses high frequency sound waves. It is a high pitch frequency that cannot be heard by the human ear. In ultra sound the following happens: High frequency sound pulses (1-5megahertz) are transmitted from the ultrasound machine into your body using a probe. The sound wave will travel into your body until it hits an object such as soft tissue and bone. When the sound wave hits these objects some of the wave will be reflected back to the probe. While some waves may carry on further till they hit another object and then reflected back. The probe picks up these reflected sound waves and relays them to the machine. The transducer probe can come in many different shapes and sizes. The field of view depends on the shape of the probe. Also the frequency of the waves emit ted determines how deep the sound waves will penetrate and also the resolution of the image that will be produced. Probes can be used to move across the body but they can also be inserted through various openings. E.g. orally, this enables the probe to get closer to object that is being examined. Being closer to the object may allow for more detailed views. The central processing unit is basically the brains behind the ultrasound machine. It is a computer that sends the electric current to the probe to tell it to emit the sound waves. It also receives the electrical pulses from the probe which received the sound waves that were reflected back. The CPU processes all the calculations and all the data the probe receives. Once this information has been processed, the CPU forms an image on the monitor. It can also store the data into its memory. Transducer pulse controls allows the operator of the machine to set and change the frequency and duration of the ultrasound pulses. Charge Pump Free Essays
A charge pump is a kind of DC to DC converter that uses capacitors as energy storage elements to create either a higher or lower voltage power source. Charge pump circuits are capable of high efficiencies, sometimes as high as 90-95% while being electrically simple circuits. Charge pumps use some form of switching device(s) to control the connection of voltages to the capacitor. In the second stage, the capacitor is disconnected from the original charging voltage and reconnected with its negative terminal to the original positive charging voltage. The pulsing nature of the higher voltage output is typically smoothed by the use of an output capacitor. The capacitor used as the charge pump is typically known as the ââ¬Å"flying capacitorâ⬠. Another way to explain the operation of a charge pump is to consider it as the combination of a DC to AC converter (the switches) followed by a voltage multiplier. The voltage is load-dependent; higher loads result in lower average voltages. Charge pumps can double voltages, triple voltages, halve voltages, invert voltages, fractionally multiply or scale voltages such as x3/2, x4/3, x2/3, etc. and generate arbitrary voltages, depending on the controller and circuit topology. The term ââ¬Ëcharge pumpââ¬â¢ is also used in phase-locked loop (PLL) circuits. This is a completely different application. In a PLL the phase difference between the reference signal (often from a crystal oscillator) and the output signal is translated into two signals ââ¬â UP and DN. The two signals control switches to steer current into or out of a capacitor, causing the voltage across the capacitor to increase or decrease. In each cycle, the time during which the switch is turned on is proportional to the phase difference, hence the charge delivered is dependent on the phase difference also. The voltage on the capacitor is used to tune a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), generating the desired output signal frequency. The use of a charge pump naturally adds a pole at the origin in the loop transfer function of the PLL, since the charge-pump current is driven into a capacitor to generate a voltage (V=I/(sC)). The additional pole at the origin is desirable because when considering the closed-loop transfer function of the PLL, this pole at the origin integrates the error signal and causes the system to track the input with one more order. The charge pump in a PLL design is constructed in integrated-circuit (IC) technology, consisting of pull-up, pull-down transistors and on-chip capacitors. A resistor is also added to stabilize the closed-loop PLL. An internal power source or a charge pump is essential in every system. An embedded system has to perform tasks continuously from power-up to power-off and may even be kept ââ¬Ëonââ¬â¢ continuously. Certain systems do not have a power source of their own: they connect to an external power supply or are powered by the use of charge pumps. Network Interface Card (NIC) and Graphic Accelerator are examples of embedded systems that do not have their own power supply and connect to PC power-supply lines. (2) A charge pump consists of a diode in the series followed by a charging capacitor. Richard Wright Was Born On September 4, 1908 On A Farm In Mississippi,
Richard Wright was born on September 4, 1908 on a farm in Mississippi, the first of two sons born to Nathan Wright, an illiterate sharecropper, and Ella Wilson Wright, a schoolteacher. When Wright was a small child, his father abandoned the family to live with another woman. After this, Wright's mother was frequently sick, and he and his brother shuffled between various relatives. During one particularly tumultuous time, Wright and his brother spent a month in an orphanage. Wright worked a variety of jobs throughout his childhood and adolescence. His mother's illnesses were a financial drain on his extended family, often forcing Wright to work rather than go to school. Nevertheless, despite his sporadic schooling, Wright became an avid reader. Shortly before the beginning of the Depression, the family moved to Chicago, where Wright began to seriously devote himself to writing. He joined the Federal Writer's Project and started to publish his work. In 1932, Wright became a member of the Communist Party. He wrote for Communist publications and met several famous writers through his affiliation with the Party. Wright later moved to New York to be the editor for The Daily Worker, a Communist publication. Around this time, Wright wrote and published Uncle Tom's Children, a collection of short stories that deals with the social realities faced by American black men. The novel (like its namesake, Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin, was banned or censored in parts of the United States. However, it was Wright's novel, Native Son, that stirred up real controversy by shocking the sensibilities of both black and white America. The protagonist, Bigger Thomas, hails from the lowest rung of society, and Wright does not infuse him with any of the romantic elements common to literary heroes. In effect, Bigger is what one might expect him to be given the social conditions in which he lives: he is sullen, frightened, violent, hateful, and resentful. Wright wrote Native Son to draw attention to what he thought was a serious problem in American society. He had witnessed a peculiar social phenomenon--there was a distinct pattern of Biggers in the United States. Wright realized that this did not apply to black men only--that in general many men, when confronted with an impossibly narrow avenue to a human life, become, like Bigger, disasters waiting to happen. Wright believed that the structure of American society itself was the direct cause. Native Son is an urgent warning that the American social structure must change before the needy, oppressed, and restricted masses rise up in fury against those in power. In the late 1940's, Wright moved with his wife and daughter to Paris, where Wright became interested in existentialism. He often socialized with Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir, and began corresponding with Franz Fanon in the 1950s. However, his writing career never again reached the peak it had when he published Native Son and Black Boy, his autobiography. Wright died of a heart attack in 1960.
